Recollection by Juliet Watt

“As an arts practitioner I am constantly playing and experimenting with ideas and materials and exploring how they make me feel. My work is intrinsically linked with an emotional desire to connect and share experiences with others. I unapologetically make work for other people- everything I make is a translation of an idea, a story, a memory that I need to share. From the outset, my process is underpinned by this desire to connect with whoever will experience the work, inviting them to engage in a sensory conversation. I always apply a playful and intuitive approach incorporating textures, tastes, sounds and smells that I feel are in line with the sensory language I am using in each piece.

My most recent work has centred around memory and imagination- exploring the idea that both are perhaps just the same thing. My first solo exhibition is a fun dive into the past sharing some of my most treasured memories. You are invited to use your imagination to connect with each story and hopefully allow your own memories to merge and enjoy the experience”.
